Family Engagement Facilitator  

Job Title:  Family Engagement Facilitator for the FACE Center

Hours: Full-time (40 hours/week)

Program description:

The Family and Community Engagement Center will serve a unique role to ensure that parents, agencies, school district personnel, counties, and other stakeholders have the knowledge, information and procedures in place to use the foundational principles outlined in the New York State Education Department’s Blueprint for Improved Results with an eye toward improving access, equity and opportunity for all children and their families.

Specific deliverables, performance measures, and procedures for monitoring the contract will be developed to evaluate the effectiveness of this initiative and outcomes related to the goals of the OSE Partnership.

Qualifications:

  1. Master’s Degree in Human Services, Education, Social Work or related field, required.

  2. Three years of experience providing professional development and/or technical assistance, required.

  3. Three years of experience working with families of children with disabilities in a public or private school and/or community service/agency settings mandatory.

  4. One year of experience providing direct supervision.

  5. Extensive knowledge of disability-related laws and regulations; special education, IDEA, government benefit programs, preschool and other programs and services serving children with disabilities birth to age five in a multi-county region.

  6. Extensive knowledge of various physical, developmental, cognitive and other disabilities.

  7. Able to work a flexible schedule (including some early mornings, evenings and weekends).

  8. Excellent communication, organization, writing and computer skills.

  9. Strong belief in integrating adults and children with all disabilities into all aspects of the community and commitment to providing services in the least restrictive environment (LRE).

  10. Willingness to learn sign language.

  11. Willingness to learn the principles of Implementation Science

Responsibilities:

  1. Extensive travel in a multi-county service area.

  2. Direct and oversee the FACE Center including: training, scheduling, supervising and evaluating the performance of FACE Center staff.

  3. Actively serve as a member of the Regional Level Team

  4. Engage in a regional planning process outlined by the Office of Special Education.

  5. Provide regional training and support to families, early childhood education or (K-12) school staff, community groups, or other interested parties.

  6. Conduct targeted professional development and offer technical assistance to groups, including families, early childhood education or (K-12) school staff, community groups, or other stakeholders.

  7. Provide technical assistance and support to identified early childhood programs that support students with disabilities or public school districts, approved private day and residential schools, Special Act schools, State-supported, and State-operated schools.

  8. Conduct outreach to families, early childhood education or (K-12) school staff, community groups, or other stakeholders in the region to establish relationships and provide information about the FACE Center.

  9. Provide comprehensive neutral information and referral to families, early childhood education or K-12 school staff, community groups, or other stakeholders.

  10. Collaborate with other FACE Center staff to ensure alignment of work between FACE Center and RPC.

  11. Assist with disseminating satisfaction surveys to families, school programs, and other agencies, and in compiling results.

  12. Assist with maintaining the resource library and FACE Center contact lists.

  13. Collect required program and statistical data and prepare and submit reports according to applicable STIC and FACE Center contract requirements.

  14. Attend all mandatory trainings, meetings, webinars, sign language class and advocacy groups.

  15. Other duties necessary to achieve the activities and goals outlined in the workplan.
