OPWDD SELF-DIRECTION SERVICES

The OPWDD Self-Direction Program, offered through the STIC, empowers individuals with developmental disabilities to take charge of their lives by providing unparalleled control over their supports and services. This innovative program allows eligible participants to receive a personalized annual budget, which they can use to customize their care, choosing who they hire as support staff—including family members or trusted individuals—what services they receive, and how their schedules are structured. By prioritizing individual choice and flexibility, the Self-Direction Program fosters independence, self-determination, and meaningful community inclusion for participants

Eligibility - To utilize the Self-Direction program, an individual must qualify for OPWDD services and be enrolled in the Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Waiver, empowering them to personalize their support services. Participation begins with attending an engaging Self-Direction information session at a nearby Developmental Disabilities Regional Office (DDRO), with flexible virtual session options also available to accommodate diverse needs.
